So, this is my FIRST real quilt I've ever made. Yes, I've made a rag quilt, and helped with the Bishop's quilt... but I've never made one like this start to finish. It is FAR from perfect, but I learned a lot. I espescially learned that I CAN'T do quilting like Nettie and Val can. I am jealous, but maybe someday they can teach me, so I can do it properly. I think I'll stick to straight lines for the quilting part from now on! I gave this one to my friend and co-worker Rocio for her new baby girl! I'm so excited for her!

Sarah! I love your quilt! Man, you're nice to give it away! This was the only quilt I've ever made- I don't know how to do other designs, I like the design you chose- was it confusing? I feel like doing a real desigin would be stressful. Also- did you get it quilted? Like take it somewhere to have them stich all over it? it looks like you did, or did you hand stich it? if you got it done, how much was it? I really wanted to do that to my quilt- but it would have cost like over 200 buckos-. That is so nice of you to give that away- you must be really close to her, or you are incredibly nice. Oh- the bed- OK- so Mike will crack jokes, but he really likes it. He thinks it looks really nice. My mom said, "It doesn't matter if other people like your style or not- because- since they like you, they will be expecting to see you in your decorating, so they will automatically love it, because they love you." I didn't say it as well as she does- but I'm sure you get the point- Brett will like it because it will look like your personality. Can you see how the light green dressers would look really good? and scuff them up to make them look older? But- then I have that dilema about changing my bed set. Do you think I'll want to in the winter? It's not as exciting as this bed set- it's really plain. AND- if I painted it white- they would disapear- because our walls are white. So they wouldn't even be noticeable- IF- we had beige or colored walls- I WOULD TOTALLY DO WHITE! I lOVE LVOE LVOE white furniture - that's barely scuffed up- looks older- I love it. But it would just disapear here. I wish we lived by eachother! And we could do our projects with eachother! I love you!
ok sorry for taking up all your comments! but- did you know that leslie marchant and blair starkey moved into our apartments?
Awesome Sarah! I love the colors. Great job!
no Amy, I quilted it myself. I did the whole thing start to finish... the quilting part is actually REALLY pretty bad if you saw it in real life... Oh-well. I would LOVE to get it done though, because it would look so much better! The design was REALLy easy- you just buy a pattern at the fabric store. They are not complicated at all. I think just squares is just as hard- might sound weird, but true!
great job. i think it's super cute. what is the name of that designing thing? i want to try one. you've pushed me over the edge. i was pretty close when we were in virgina but now i've gotta do it.
Did you hand stitch it? or use the sewing machine- for all the stitching on the quilt?
I'm impressed that you tried the quilting on even your FIRST quilt!!! Wow! I used to piece the top and send them to my mom to hand quilt. I was scared to stitch it on the top. I think it looks GREAT, Sarah!!
For your peace of mind, Sarah, this is some of the difference as to the look of your quilt compared with Nettie and Valerie's: they use warm and natural in between and you used regular batting. But I saw it in real life and it was totally cute!!!
That is so funny you mention the wal-mart trips coming home with stuff- Walmart is so hard! Because everythign is so cheap! It's practically stealing- and it's so hard not to get so much stuff! AND- Jo-anns is the other place that gets me- and I come home and show mike the things I get also- and I'm always like, "isn't this cool? do you like it?!" and he just rolls his eyes and laughs at me. He always says that when we have money some day- I'll just spend it- so we'll always be poor.
The quilt is beautiful. I think it is awesome what you can accomplish in your sparetime. I'm jealous.
