A New Baby!!! (A.K.A. Olivia's new best friend!)

My best friend Lindsay Marchant just had a baby today!!! His name is Connor Evan Marchant. I don't know the stats.. I just got a few pictures! I wish I could be in Oregon to hold him and meet him! He looks ADORABLE! And so much hair and chub! I love it!!

New Moves!

When I'm on the computer with Olivia, she has learned how to turn her head to look up at me. It's a new skill I love!

This is a hat we bought for Olivia when she was about 2 months old. I thought it wouldn't fit until she was like 8 months, but what do ya know, it fits now! We love it!!!

Computers...

Well,we changed the look of our site. Don't ask how, it was difficult- Brett had to help get it on the blog. Changing the colors was easy though. When I was working on the computer I got frustrated one too many times and was getting Brett's help every 10 seconds...It was making Brett and me mad! Anyways, last night Olivia was waking up and crying again, grrr. Anyways, so when Olivia was crying at 2 am for some reason I was sure something was wrong with her computer. I woke Brett up and was mad and said "can you please fix Olivia's computer, it's making her really upset!" Brett just put the pillow over his head and went back to sleep. I just remember being very mad that Brett wouldn't fix the moniter on Olivia's computer.

Sleep!

This is how Olivia fell asleep in Brett's lap the other day. As you can see she refuses to lay her head down. She ALWAYS wants to be sitting up even when she's tired and needs to lay down! Well, it seems that listnening to cries all night for a few nights has paid off! She is still waking up in the night but I put a binky in and she's right back to sleep. She lasted for 8 whole hours with no food! Good job Olivia! I ordered the sleep book so maybe it will give me more advice to get her sleeping longer!

The many sides of Olivia

Olivia is showing off her her battle wounds. She got one scratch from her fingernail and the other from the neighbor girl! She didn't seem to mind though- what a tough monkey! (that's what I call her anyway!)


This is the same look I woke up to this morning. Last night I didn't feed Olivia once. I just let her cry and suck on a binky. Lets just say it wasn't fun or restful, but hopefully she's learning to not eat at 2 am anymore. She was very upset with me in the morning. She just stared at me and wouldn't smile. It was like she was mad. I don't know if she really was or if she was tired. Who knows!

Lady Godiva and Naked Olivia...

So, this blog is about the naked truth.. haha, just kidding! Actually, it’s about Brett’s ancestors. Brett tells me that he is blood related to Lady Godiva! Yes, the lady who rode naked through a town back in the day. It’s kinda funny… this means Olivia is now a blood relative too! She loves to be naked, and now we know why ;) So, the story of Lady Godiva goes like this:

Godiva quarrelled frequently with her husband over his merciless behaviour and begged him to change his ways, and to be more lenient with the people. During an argument one day, Leofric made the extravagant promise that he would remit the tax if Godiva would ride naked through the streets of Coventry on market day, knowing full well that was something his wife would never do. But Leofric had forgotten Godiva’s compassion and concern for the people. She mounted her horse and made her famous journey, clothed only by her beautiful long blonde hair. Leofric kept his promise and the people of Coventry never again had to pay the taxes. Leofric also mended his ways and gave up persecuting the Church and tyrannising the people. He and Godiva made up their differences and together they founded a monastery, where they were both eventually buried. Nothing remains to day of the monastery.

Not mentioned in the story- they made the whole town go in there houses the day she rode naked and boarded up windows so that NO ONE would see… It was forbidden to peak, and one guy named Tom did and got caught. That’s how “peeping Tom” came about, at least that’s what I read!

Pajamas from Thailand

Olivia got new pj's from her cousins (the Chamberlains) that just got back from Thailand. They are soo cute, we just LOVE them! I used to have a green pair when I was little that my Grandparents brought back from their trip. They are a lot of fun!

Olivia is getting very strong. She lifts her legs high in the air all day long... I tried it and it is VERY tiring! Then if her legs aren't up she's lifting her head up trying to sit up. It's very funny, but she gets upset about it. She just can't quite sit up yet!

So, Brett was VERY upset last night because Olivia wanted to play at 2 am. She didn't go back to bed until 2 hours later... What a PILL! She looks so happy and cute today, luckily you can't stay mad for long! Liv tried rice cereal in a more solid form today, but she just spit it out, she doesn't know what to do with it yet! We'll have to keep trying!

Last night we had a birthday party for Amy- brett's sister. It was a good time. We had it at Scott and Britta's place. Britta made a wonderful meal and after we hit a piata that Brett and I brought and played Apples to Apples. Amy brought a few friends and the cousins were there too. Happy Birthday Amy! By the way- Amy's teeth look great! Britta took lots of pictures... so you'll have to wait for her blog to see more!

Olivia has a new favorite thing to do... She loves to pull out her binky and try to put it back in. I thought maybe if I gave her one to hold she wouldn't try to pull it out, but I was wrong. She just loves to pull!

Little School Girl

Olivia is looking like a little school girl all excited for her first day. She starts today in the school of Sarah Elementary. For new years I have decided to read Olivia scriptures every day, even though she's not listening, and do something intelligent with her like listening to classical music or reading the news to her, or something! They say they'll be smarter if they hear new things daily. I'm sure most babies hear the same thing every day like "hey cutie wottie tootie babe!" Well... maybe not, but poor Liv has to hear those kind of things daily, so I've gotta mix in something a little more intelligent!

A Good Thing (as Martha would say)

So, Tracey, a friend of mine recently told me about this color catcher sheet that you put in your laundry so that the colors don't bleed onto eachother. It is very cool! It was perfect timing because I recently bought a new white and red striped shirt and I wasn't sure how to wash it without getting my white pink.. Also Olivia's Christmas outfit is white and red together. So, I tried it and it totally worked! No red on the white! It says on the box you don't have to seperate colors for your laundry anymore.. but I think I will and I'll just use them on occasion! But, it's cool. You've gotta try it!

Looking Back

Well, I was looking at this picture of Olivia- she's so little! I remember when she was first born I thought she had so much hair! It really wasn't much, but I guess I thought she would really be completely bald. Which she is on the back of her head now! I think Olivia is regressing with sleeping. She was doing so well, and now she is doing BAD! It's like she's a newborn again! Every 2 to 3 hours she wants to eat. What a turkey! I can't handle it! I guess I'm going to have to do the things they teach in the books... but they are a lot of work and I don't want to do it AGAIN! Oh-well..
