2 years old!

Claire turned 2 on the 30th of December. She is growing so fast! Here are her stats:

Weight: 26 lbs (51%)
Height: 35.5 inches (89%)
Head: 18.5 inches (36%)
Claire is such a joy to be around! For the most part she is pretty mellow and is pretty good little girl. She sleeps and eats well. She laughs a lot and loves to help out with anything she can to make us smile. For example the other day she was taking any trash she could find and throwing it away for us. ;) She is a little behind on speech. She is on track with communication (meaning she understands well and can communicate well) She just can't speak well. She only has about 10 words or phrases. She will be going to a speech therapist next week. I don't think it will put her behind since she is a very smart girl. Hopefully she will catch up with her speech soon!

jill was behind with speech too. we went to a speech therapist last summer and they said not to worry about her issues until later (like if she still is delayed at 8). anyway, she has improved greatly the last year. now, she just can't say her l's or r's or th's and a few others.
good luck! i hope it's good news and that she'll improve.
btw, when we play house, whomever is the baby is called "baby clarie" after your sweet daughter. they LOVE her! happy birthday.

Happy birthday to sweet little Claire Bear! She is adorable! And I can't believe how fast she's grown...I can still remember when you were blogging about being PREGNANT with her! Crazy.

Byron has a speech delay as well--he's been in speech therapy since he was 2.5 (also had very few words/phrases by the time he turned 2, even though he understood what we said to him and could communicate his needs most of the time...) and has improved SOOO much! He still sounds like he's about a year behind what he should be, but it's still pretty amazing how quick they catch on! And a huge relief because I used to worry so much. ;o)

Love all of your pictures, as always--I want your camera!

I just caught up on teh latest posts. Your girls are so old! Claire is so old! That pic of her in her apron!- yowsa- she just seemed so much older all of a sudden, same with Olivia. They are both So so cute and Olivia is turning into a really pretty girl (meaning- she was cute and little- and now she's crossing to the grown up girl pretty phase), pretty pretty girls. I love the blue wall in teh backround in teh pic. I love the aprons- WISH we lived by eachother to sew together. Claire behind in her speech- it seems like that is really normal! My neice Gracie was behind major! She like barely talked until she was 3. But she's really smart! and talks just fine! I think some people just don't feel like talking until later- I believe my brother was that way too and he is extremely intelligent. I think it's more of a personality thing than anything. I don't think it has anything to do with being behind- I think teh world freaks out too much about these things- sorry for being doctor amy! I'm glad 2010 was so good for you! Great goals- I hate getting up early too! love you-

I love you Claire! She's tall. Yay! I'm glad you're taking her to a speech therapist. Not because I believe she has a problem, but because I think it may ease your mind and if there is something that needs to be done you'll know it. She is such a sweetheart. She is definitely smart.

My kids both started talking about age 2. I am sure she will be just fine. Lex has been in speech the last year though for her R's and is improving a ton. Love this picture. She is growing so much :-)

You will be glad that you took her. I am glad I took Ben to a speech pathologist. Ben really does communicate better now. The longer they can't communicate, the more frustrated they get. My pediatrician did not feel Ben needed to see an Ear Nose Throat Dr. I took him anyway. His vocabulary has at least doubled since we put tubes in. And he is now afraid of the vacuum which I am convinced he did not hear fully before. Speech therapy will only benefit her.

2 already?? been away from blogging. the girls are just so big now. As for speech...number 2 child usually takes awhile to speak. If they can communicate w/you, then that's a good enough for them. also the older sibling usually speaks for the 1st or can interpret for them too. Usually a child that doesn't talk much is the athletic one, climbing, can jump and is very coordinated. the one that speaks better and learns to talk early are the ones that aren't as coordinated or weren't the ones that climbed on things, throw things...jump off stairs..etc.

Hope that helps! Key thing to remember is communication. If you have it w/your child and there are some words being said, it's a good sign. Worry when there are no words, only grunting, and lots of crying out of frustration, anger issues (b/c they can't talk). communication is lacking for better of.
